Scottish company A. Proctor Group of Blairgowrie have provided Roofshield for the re-roofing of St. Wilfrid's Church in Barnsall.
The church is steeped in history, with the oldest part of the church, the South Chantry - or Lady Chapel - dating back to the 12th Century.
The Parochial Church Council of St Wilfrid's recently embarked on a refurbishment project, which was going to be challenging due to the existing architecture and the valuable contents contained within the church.
When it came to re-roofing, the specifier had to have confidence in the materials used.
Blackett-Ord Conservation Architecture of Cumbria, specified Roofshield, a high specification vapour permeable underlay from the A. Proctor Group of Blairgowrie in Scotland.
Roofshield can be left exposed for up to four months prior to the roof covering being installed.
Roofshield is suitable for use in both warm and cold roof applications without the requirement for ventilation to the roofspace. It is covered by two BBA certificates, and due to the additional advantage of air permeability, it is not necessary to install a vapour control layer at ceiling level.
The contractor, Crighton Conservation and Steeplejacks, installed the Roofshield in a fully supported application so that the historic rafters were left exposed from below.
The A. Proctor Group have a wide product range and have a dedicated technical department who can offer a variety of services, including Thermal calculations, SAP calculations, Gas Design, Acoustic Batten Layouts and Take-offs and Acoustic Testing.
Further information regarding Roofshield and the groups other product ranges can be found on: www.proctorgroup.com.
