Stirling Council is urging residents, whose home or business is served by a private water supply, to apply for a grant to help make improvements.

The government grant of up to £800 is not means tested and can be used to carry out improvements to the water source, distribution system and treatment of a water supply.

Details about the application process are available from Stirling Council's Environmental Health Team, who can help explain the application process and give advice on possible improvements that may be needed.


Stirling Council's Portfolio Holder with responsibility for the Environment Councillor Jim Thomson said: "We want to make sure that many more private water supplies are improved while this government funding is still available.

"It may be that some residents share their supply with neighbours and should consider a joint application. Our Officers can provide information and advice about the Grant Scheme and assist applicants to complete the application form."

Environment Health Officers are sending out information packs to all known private water supply users within the Council area, and packs can also be sent out to residents on request.
