Scottish Renewables, the representative voice of the renewable energy industry in Scotland, has announced the appointment of Niall Stuart as its new Chief Executive.

Niall will join the organisation from his current role as Press and Government Affairs Manager at the Scottish Council for Development and Industry (SCDI).

Niall Stuart said: "I'm delighted to be joining Scottish Renewables at such an exciting and important time for the sector. I am looking forward to working with our members to deliver the legislative, regulatory and financial incentives they need to maximise the growth of the industry in Scotland.


"It's a dynamic and fast-growing industry, which will be at the very heart of efforts to grow the economy and tackle climate change over coming years, and Scottish Renewables has a critical role leading the debate on how we deliver the sector’s potential for investment, new jobs and carbon savings for Scotland."

Andrew Jamieson, Chairman of Scottish Renewables, added: "Niall brings an excellent range of skills and experience to the organisation, not least his proven track record of engaging with members, government and the media.These skills will all be essential in leading the team at Scottish Renewables as we look to secure the policy framework the industry needs if we are to meet the government’s stretching 2020 energy targets."
