Dawn Construction is celebrating the latest milestone in the building of a £17m health facility in Lanarkshire as it prepares to remove the tower crane from site later this week.
Industry leader Dawn has been involved from the outset, undertaking a unique procurement route which involved putting together the design team to see the project from gap site through to construction.
The new 8,000 sq m facility - due for completion in Spring 2010 - is a joint venture between North Lanarkshire Council and NHS Lanarkshire which will incorporate two dental practices, a dental outreach centre, two GP surgeries and a community health department.
It will also provide a one-stop shop for a number of North Lanarkshire Council's agencies, including a public library and a registrar's office.
Dawn Construction has developed an enviable portfolio of successful healthcare projects delivered across Scotland, celebrating recent contract wins including North Ayrshire Community Hospital in Irvine, Musselburgh Primary Care Centre, and NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde mental health project.
The firm is currently working on Shawfair Park Hospital in Edinburgh, and recently celebrated the opening of Ayrshire Maternity Unit in Kilmarnock.
Steve McMillan, Commercial Director at Dawn Construction, said: "We are delighted to be working with North Lanarkshire Council and NHS Lanarkshire to deliver this new centre designed to offer local people a single point from which they can access a number of services under one roof.
"The purpose-built facility not only further enhances our extensive experience across the healthcare sector, but also demonstrates our ability to provide a unique and flexible package designed to successfully deliver this complex and challenging project."
Ian Ross, Director of Strategic Implementation, Performance and Planning at NHS Lanarkshire, said: "This centre will be a tremendous addition to the town centre allowing people to access a wide range of health and council services in one convenient location.
"Access to services is very important as more than 90 per cent of the contact people have with the NHS is in primary care settings, and the facilities of this centre will enable us to provide local health services in the best possible environment."
