Two ambitious Robertson employees have been rewarded for their hard work in the construction industry with prestigious awards.
Stuart Forsyth, 19, from Elgin was announced as the Robertson Apprentice of the Year, while Ewan McDonald, 27, from Aberdeen, also celebrated winning the 'Best Delegate' - 'Good Foundations' Construction Training Programme award.
Stuart received a £300 cheque while Ewan received a £1000 cheque – each for their dedication and hard work at a special ceremony staged at the new Dental School at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary on Wednesday 8 July.
Stuart joined Robertson in July 2006. He is currently working on a development in Denmark Street in Fraserburgh where Robertson is building 51 new housing units for Langstane Housing.
Stuart, who has wanted to be a bricklayer from the age of 12, also attends Moray College - where he recently completed his 3rd year Advanced Certificate in Bricklaying. He will now go on to complete his apprenticeship in June 2010.
Stuart said of winning the Robertson Apprentice of the Year title: "I've wanted to be a bricklayer for as long as I can remember. I've worked hard in my job and at college. The fact that I enjoy the work has made learning the role easier."
Ewan McDonald, 27 from Aberdeen, joined Robertson in February 2006 as a student Quantity Surveyor on placement – later coming back to work for the firm in a full-time capacity. He went on to do his BSc Construction Design & Management degree following the completion of an apprenticeship in bricklaying.
Ewan can boast having a direct hand in the build of vital community projects including, the new Carnoustie High School, the Dental School in Aberdeen and work at Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen
On winning the 'Best Delegate' - 'Good Foundations' Construction Training Programme award, Ewan McDonald, said: "It's great to be rewarded for something you've worked hard to achieve. I've applied myself at every level - right from my apprenticeship in bricklaying through to completing my degree so it's nice to be recognised for my efforts."
Ian Smith, Construction Group Director for Robertson said: "Robertson places a huge emphasis on employing the best people across all of our businesses and we look for people who buy into our values of forging strong client relationships.
"It is also important that individuals take personal responsibility for their own development and offer mutual support to their colleagues and work well in a team."
