The annual RIBA Awards for architectural excellence are presented to a wide variety of buildings and a range of architectural practices.
The Potterrow Development for The University of Edinburgh, The Beatson Institute, New Cancer Research Facility and North Glasgow College were all identified as winners - meeting the criteria of having high architectural standards and making a substantial contribution to their local environments.
These RIBA Awards add to the previously established credit gained by the three projects. Potterrow has already won the RICS Scotland Sustainability Award and the RICS Scottish Building Project of the Year 2009, and has been shortlisted in the Public Building Category for the Scottish Design Awards 2009.

Meanwhile, The Beatson Institute has won a Civic Trust 2009 Award, the Glasgow Institute of Architects Awards Supreme Medal and Best Healthcare Building 2008 along with a Silver Roses Design Award, Best Public Building 2008, and it too has been shortlisted in the Public Building Category for the Scottish Design Awards 2009.
And North Glasgow College, which was officially opened by HRH Princess Anne in February this year, has also been nominated in the Best Public Building Category for the Scottish Design Awards.
Commenting on the success of the projects, Ronnie Dool, Director, said: "We're thrilled with this success. To have so many of our client’s projects in Scotland recognised by The Royal Institute of British Architects is exceptional. The quality of projects shortlisted illustrates the innovative developments which have taken place this year in Scotland."
