Halcrow Employee Scotland's First CEEQUAL Verifier

A Halcrow employee has become the first person in Scotland to achieve the prestigious CEEQUAL (Civil Engineering Environmental Quality Assessment and Award Scheme) Verifier qualification.

Catherine Taggart, a town planner with the design, planning and management firm, is now one of only 29 Verifiers across the UK to have the authority to verify engineering projects seeking a CEEQUAL Award.

Concern surrounding issues of sustainability and the environment is continuing to grow amongst clients of engineering firms, and many now require the company representing them to undertake CEEQUAL assessments of projects being taken forward.

Ms Taggart said: "I'm proud to be the first in Scotland to achieve this qualification and it will certainly help our team to be increasingly competitive when it comes to new business.

"Going forward sustainability will become a primary consideration in the development of every project. CEEQUAL is a leading tool in integrating environmental sustainability considerations into civil engineering schemes. Being one of a handful of Verifiers puts Halcrow in a great position."

Donald Bell, regional director for Halcrow added: "We are thrilled that Halcrow is one of the few companies in the UK to have a CEEQUAL verifier in our team.

"Catherine is definitely an asset to our team and her skills and expertise help us stand out from the crowd. Her qualification is a great benefit, not only for Halcrow and our clients, but for her very bright future in the industry."
