Argyll Community Housing Association, ACHA, handed over its first new build homes to tenants today in Whistlefield, Garelochhead in an opening ceremony carried out by local MSP, Jackie Baillie.

The four properties handed over are part of a twelve unit development taken forward by the Association in partnership with the Scottish Government and Argyll and Bute Council. The project cost is £1.5m and when totally completed in March 2010 will provide six one-bedroom and six two-bedroom flats.


Jackie Baillie MSP said: "I am delighted to be here today to see the first homes completed by ACHA. With nearly 1,300 applicants on ACHA's housing list in the Helensburgh and Lomond area these new homes are most welcome.

"As someone who supported the stock transfer in Argyll and Bute I am really pleased to see the fruits today of that hard work."

Alastair MacGregor, ACHA's Chief Executive added "This is a landmark day for the Association when we see plans become reality and houses become homes.

"I would like to thank everyone who made today possible turning this site into good quality affordable homes."
