A series of improvements to the Riverway Retail Park in Irvine are the subject of a £570,000 contract awarded to Clark Contracts by Prudential Property Managers.
Due for completion in August 2009, the work by Clark Contracts' Construction Division involves removal of an existing covered walkway, then the installation of new individual canopies over the main entrances to nine retail outlets.
There is also new slabbing, ram raid bollards, decoration to the front of the building and new signage.
Located on New Street, Irvine, the Riverway Retail Park is home to a range of household names including Tesco, Currys, Homebase, Harveys, Carpetwise, Brantano, Blockbuster Video, Burger King and KFC. Working in a live environment, Clark Contracts has to ensure the stores keep trading with minimal disruption and the works are segregated and safe from the public.
Gordon Cunningham, managing director, Clark Contracts said: "We are fully aware of the requirement to keeping the retail units operational during the construction works. We do have extensive previous experience working in the retail sector and I am confident we can complete this contract with the minimum of disruption to the retailers and customers at Riverway Retail Park."
Founded in 1978, Clark Contracts has grown to employ over 200 staff at offices in Paisley, covering the West of Scotland, and Edinburgh, covering the East. Around 80% of the company's work is repeat business and six out of ten is from customers who have worked with Clark Contracts for five years or more.
