Knight Frank has completed the conversion of a former Royal Mail road transport workshop into a new delivery office in Kyle of Lochalsh.
The £340,000 project has transformed the existing building at Railway Terrace to provide accessible and modern delivery and collection services.
Acting on behalf of Royal Mail, Knight Frank's building consultancy team in Aberdeen acted as lead consultants on the project to provide project management, architectural design, cost control, and CDM coordinator services.
Royal Mail decided to relocate its delivery office to Railway Terrace from its former premises on Main Street in Kyle as it was found the facility did not meet current standards for health and safety and access for the public.
The new delivery office is now in operation and was recently officially opened by Charles Kennedy, MP for Ross, Skye and Inverness West.
Roddy Morrison, associate, Knight Frank said: "This was a great project to work on and a good example of regeneration of a disused facility to provide modern delivery office services to meet Royal Mail’s requirements. We looked at a number of options to relocate the facility, including a new build facility, but the former workshop proved to be the most logical and cost effective solution."
The refurbishment project in Kyle of Lochalsh has been one of many projects completed by the Aberdeen team which has worked with Royal Mail for over 18 years. Recently Knight Frank was successful in being awarded the contract for a further three-years to provide building consultancy services on 189 properties in Royal Mail’s property portfolio in Scotland.
