HLM Architects has appointed Patrick Clark as Architectural Director in the firm's Scotland office, which has been based in Glasgow for over 40 years.
Patrick is a talented designer who previously worked across the UK and Ireland as a partner at Parr Architects before becoming a director of SMC Parr.
Recently appointed as an Enabler for Architecture + Design Scotland, he has a wealth of experience in fast-track commercial and industrial projects, as well as school projects, healthcare schemes and residential developments.
Chris Liddle, Chairman of HLM, said: "We are delighted that Patrick has made the choice to join HLM, driven by his desire to focus on the core values of good design at a pivotal time in the construction industry. His public and private project experience spans most of our core sectors and, by imparting his knowledge and learning, he will help us to remain at the forefront of design in Scotland and Northern Ireland, as well as the rest of the UK.
"Patrick will get involved in many projects, particularly in our education sector work. We are at our strongest in this sector, delivering excellent quality schools across the UK through the BSF programme and PFI, and Patrick will help us to sustain our pole position."
Mr Clark said: "I am passionate about sustainable design and development and would like to see the profile of quality architecture raised in Scotland. At HLM, I will be able to work with a practice that is as committed as I am to creating first class architecture with functional and high quality environments that stand the test of time."
Speaking about his decision to join HLM Patrick pointed to HLM securing the highest position of any UK architectural and construction practice in the Sunday Times Top 100 Best Small Companies to Work for 2009 and the firms award Special Award for 'Best For Engaging With Schools', for its excellent work in the education sector.
"While at HLM, I will be visiting my old school of architecture in Dundee as an external tutor and hope to get involved in some of the other initiatives HLM organises to encourage young people into the profession," he added.
