Re-Appointment Of 15 Board of Architecture and Design Scotland Members

Culture Minister Michael Russell has announced the re-appointment of 15 members to the Board of Architecture and Design Scotland.

The re-appointed members are:
  • Raymond Young CBE (Chair) - An architect and former senior member of staff of Scottish Homes, Mr Young has wide experience of community housing associations and is now active as a housing and regeneration consultant
  • Professor Brain Evans (Deputy Chair) - An urban designer and planner, and a partner in one of the UK's leading urban and landscape design practices, Gillespies
  • Karen Anderson - Architect and a founding partner of Anderson, Bell Christie Architects, Glasgow
  • Alison Blamire - Co-founder of ARCADE Architects, Edinburgh in 1981 and now leader of its design team
  • Margaret Hickish - Principal Access Officer, Olympic Delivery Authority, London
  • Eelco Hooftman - Founding partner of GROSS. MAX. Landscape Architects and a Reader at Edinburgh College of Art
  • Gareth Hoskins - Principal, Gareth Hoskins Architects, Glasgow since 1998
  • John Irvine - Chartered Surveyor and Board member of the Grosvenor property company, with responsibility for its development activity outside London
  • Rob Joiner - Director, Reidvale and Molendinar Housing Associations, Glasgow
  • Eleanor McAllister OBE - Economist, town planner and Managing Director of Clydebank Re-built urban regeneration company
  • Terry Mackie - Architect with NHS Grampian for many years and now Director of the Peacock Visual Arts Centre, Aberdeen
  • Steven Spier - President of the HafenCity University, Hamburg and previously Professor and Head of the Department of Architecture at the University of Strathclyde
  • Paul Stallan - European Design Director of RMJM, one of the largest architecture practices with headquarters in Scotland.
  • Stephen Tucker - Director (Scotland) of Urban Design and Regeneration for Turley Associates, and previously instrumental in the evolution of the Raploch urban regeneration company
  • Brian Veitch - Chartered civil and structural engineer, and a Director of Arup, the worldwide design and engineering consultancy
None of the re-appointees hold other Ministerial appointments.

These reappointments will be for one year and will run from April 1, 2009 to March 31, 2010.

These posts are part-time and are not remunerated. There is a time commitment of up to three days per month for the Chair and up to two days a month for other members.

Architecture and Design Scotland was established by Scottish Ministers in April 2005 as the national champion for good architecture, design and planning in the built environment.
