Scottish Borders Housing Association has said "goodbye" to its Director of Technical Services, Duncan Mackay, and "hello" to his replacement, Julia Mulloy.
Duncan has been with SBHA for six years, having joined the Association as Planned Maintenance Manager in August 2002, and then advancing first of all to be Head of Technical Services and, since 2007, Director of Technical Services.
Duncan has driven through major changes in SBHA's Maintenance and Repairs Service, introducing new operating systems and state-of-the-art IT, with the result that SBHA's in-house Maintenance Division is used as an example by other housing association and Council landlords as a model which they aim to follow.
The Maintenance Division now employs 93 tradesmen/operatives, including 12 apprentices, and is by some way the largest building maintenance contractor in the Scottish Borders Duncan leaves us to join East Lothian HA, and everyone associated with SBHA wishes him well.
Julia Mulloy is SBHA's new Director of Technical Services, and will start full-time on 6th April. Julia joins the Association from Just Housing Ltd where she was Operations Director based in Edinburgh, working for the last four years in the Partnership with City of Edinburgh Council to improve Edinburgh's in-house repairs service.
A native of Billingham in NE England, Julia has worked in a range of Voluntary Sector, Community Sector and Local Authority posts. She demonstrated her good taste and judgement by moving to the Scottish Borders 5 years ago and lives in Melrose with her husband and three children. Julia is very much looking forward to joining the SBHA Team and building on the achievements to date.
