The Dams section of Aurs Road, linking Barrhead with Newton Mearns, will close to allow a £75K resurfacing of an 800m section south of Springfield Road junction to take place.

The road will close to through traffic from Sunday 8 to Sunday 22 March.

The road normally carries heavy through traffic and vehicles from Barrhead and Paisley accessing the M77 at Newton Mearns.

Diversions via Stewarton Road, are set to re-open between the Crookfur and Patterton roundabouts by Sunday 8 March, Nitshill, Parkhouse and Darnley Roads will be in operation.


Access to the Aurs Road entrance of the Dams to Darnley Country Park will still be available from the Newton Mearns end of the road at its junction with Stewarton Road.

The work will be carried out in-house by East Renfrewshire council's roads engineers and crews.

The councils roads chief Joe Devine said: "The surface south of Springfield Road is worn out and needs replaced.

"We have no alternative but to close the road and I apologise to all road users for any inconvenience caused. I would ask all affected to give extra time for journeys and to use the diversions carefully."
