They moved westbound traffic from the south to the north carriageways on Tuesday to allow work to start on the opposite carriageway. This is a crucial stage to ensure that the work will hit its Sunday 19 April completion deadline.

Traffic flow is unaffected by the carriageway switch and Eastwoodmains Road remains closed eastbound to allow work to continue.
Roads chief Joe Devine said: "Our roads contracting staff are right on schedule and have already done an excellent job, despite the recent severe weather, of laying a temporary surface on the north carriageway to take westbound traffic, completed the footway on the north side of the road, and carried out traffic management.
"Once again I would ask for the co-operation of all drivers and road users while the works continue, to use the recommended diversions, to be patient and extra careful and to allow extra time for journeys around Eastwood Toll."
