Our Lady’s High School in Lanarkshire, Scotland, has benefited from Marley Waterproofing’s high performance roofing materials.
The original school roof was suffering from a number of leaks which were causing disruption to the day to day running of the school. The problem was such that the roof finish and the insulation needed to be upgraded. Marley Waterproofing’s System 600 created long lasting waterproofing protection.
Contractor, Braedale Roofing Ltd, installed System 600, a cost effective high performance Elastomeric built-up roofing system on the roof. The system is available in pour and roll and torch on applications and has been independently tested and approved by the British Board of Agrément, certificate number 05/4198. Its membranes are also compatible with cold applied membranes, as demonstrated in this project where cold applied technology was used for complex detailing or difficult to access areas.
Roof areas which were difficult to access were waterproofed using bituminous roofing details. In addition, areas of guttering were waterproofed using Marley Waterproofing’s Polimar liquid system. This seamless system is perfect for areas of complex detailing, providing a lasting barrier to water penetration, will not embrittle and is highly resistant to sunlight.
Speaking about the project, Graeme Douglas of Marley Waterproofing, said: "The roof of Our Lady’s High School had a number of different requirements. Certain parts were difficult to access, the client did not want hot works in designated areas and the roof also incorporated areas of complex detailing. When roofs need repair, it is not always possible to use just one waterproofing system.
"This is why our products have been designed to complement each other and provide a complete waterproofing system for even the most technically challenging job. Projects within the education sector often have a strict criteria and it is important to provide the client with a waterproofing solution that fits their requirements."
