Perth & Kinross Council is to restore Aberfeldy Town Hall for community use.
The hall had to be closed recently due to unforeseen health and safety requirements arising from the discovery of dry rot and associated problems with the building's electrics.
Leader of the Council, Councillor Ian Miller said: "This Council has given priority to the resolution of this matter and is committed to providing high quality services for the residents of Aberfeldy. We are already investing £30m in the new Breadalbane community campus, that within two years will provide state of the art education, leisure and a range of community services for the people of Aberfeldy.
"Following attendance by Council representatives at a meeting of the Aberfeldy Community Council on 12 November to discuss the situation regarding the closure of the town hall and subsequent discussions with the community, we have been giving this matter urgent consideration.
"Having now had an opportunity to fully consider the facts of the matter I am pleased to confirm that we will proceed with the repairs required to bring the town hall back into use as soon as possible. We have also already started to work with the community to explore options for the town hall in the longer term and will continue to do so.
"I understand the real concerns that have been expressed by the people of Aberfeldy during this unforeseen situation and am pleased that we have been able to find a solution at the earliest possible time. I hope that local residents will continue to work with us in planning the way ahead."
Repair work is scheduled to begin as soon as possible in the New Year.
