Balfour Beatty, the international engineering, construction, services and investment Group announces the appointment of Andrew McNaughton to the new role of Chief Operating Officer and to the Board of Balfour Beatty plc.
The appointment, as Balfour Beatty continues to grow successfully in both size and scope, will further strengthen the Group senior management structure.
Commenting on the appointment, Chief Executive, Ian Tyler said: "I am delighted to announce Andrew's appointment, which reflects the need to create an appropriate Board and senior management structure to direct and manage the continuing long-term growth of the Group.
"Since joining Balfour Beatty in 1997, Andrew has been instrumental in the development of our major project capabilities and in positioning the Group in respect of its major future opportunities."
In his role as Chief Operating Officer, Andrew McNaughton will oversee Balfour Beatty's construction and engineering activities in the UK, the Gulf Region, South-East Asia and the Group's worldwide rail business.
He will report to Ian Tyler who, in addition to his overall responsibilities for the strategic development of the Group, will retain direct line management responsibility for the Group's interests in the US, its professional and technical services business and for the Group's central staff functions.
Anthony Rabin, Deputy Chief Executive, retains his current responsibility for the Group's worldwide infrastructure investment business.
Andrew McNaughton, who is 44, is a Chartered Civil Engineer, a member of the Institute of Civil Engineering and a board member of the Major Projects Association.
He joined Balfour Beatty in 1997 and has undertaken a series of increasingly senior roles, most recently as Group Managing Director with responsibility for the civil engineering activities of the Group in the UK and the Middle East.
The new appointment becomes effective from 1 January 2009.
