Robertson has been positioned in the latest Sunday Times HSBC Top Track 250 league table.
Now in its fourth year, the table ranks Britain's 250 biggest mid-market private companies by sales in their latest audited accounts.
Robertson features in the 2008 listing alongside 24 other Scottish businesses including Murray International, Farmfoods and William Grant & Sons.
Now directly employing over 1,000 people, Robertson is a portfolio of 12 companies which includes seven regionally-based construction companies, a property development company, a timber frame manufacturing business, a facilities management company, a business dedicated to PFI and PPP investments and a house-builder that was de-merged from the parent company in December 2006.
The Robertson businesses delivered a turnover of £247.4million and pre-tax profit of £11.9million to the year-end November 30, 2007.
Executive chairman Bill Robertson said: "We have spent the last few years creating strong, separate businesses moving away from a traditional group structure and we are now seeing the long-term benefit from this exercise.
"With the creation of two new regionalised construction businesses during 2008 our current business model now gives us twelve platforms for growth in six sectors of the market place."
The executive chairman believes the stability and separate business structure will allow each of the businesses to adapt and operate effectively under the tougher trading conditions being felt throughout the industry.
He said: "The last few years have been challenging as we pushed on all fronts to achieve our business objectives.
"The next few years will be even more intense as the industry adapts to the changing economic climate. However, Robertson businesses have been developed to create and maintain value throughout these turbulent times. Our business model will be put to the test but I am confident that the shape of our businesses will help manage the downturn. I strongly believe that our individual, autonomous businesses will give us the edge over larger entities."
Robertson is ranked number 205 in the latest Sunday Times HSBC Top Track 250 league table.
