Phase one of the Glenmorangie Distillery expansion has been completed.

Extensions to existing buildings to house additional fermentation capacity at the plant in Tain, Ross-shire have been finished.

Phase two of the project will see a range of malt whiskey distillation equipment being added to allow for a 50% increase in production capacity and the installation of four new stills.


The work is part of a £45m investment programme in which focus will be placed on building the single malt Scotch whiskey brands Glenmorangie and Arbeg.

Chief executive Paul Neep said: "Given the increasing growth of single malts across the world, and of major brands like Glenmorangie, we are responding to the expected long-term requirements for the brand.

"The investment we are making in Tain, and elsewhere in Scotland, will deliver long-term additional growth for both the company and also, importantly, for the local and wider Scottish economies."

There will also be a relocation of headquarters to central Edinburgh, construction of a new bottling plant and new cask warehousing at Tain and the Ardbeg Distillery on Islay.
