Stirling celebrated the completion of 75 affordable new homes at Cultenhove, on Thursday 2 October with Councillor Alasdair MacPherson planting a tree to mark the occasion.
Castle Rock Edinvar Housing Association worked in close partnership with Stirling Council and the local community throughout every stage of the development process to complete the first phase of local regeneration. In recognition of their commitment to the project, Cultenhove Opportunities Partnership (COP) where presented with a Secured by Design Award by Superintendent Flynn of Central Police.
"The new homes have been very well received by residents of Cultenhove and the wider community. It is an excellent example of how we can work with the local council to success regenerate local communities and deliver much needed, high quality affordable housing to the area," said Castle Rock Edinvar managing director Alister Steele.
Councillor Alasdair MacPherson added: "I would like to congratulate Castlerock Edinvar Housing Associations, all the professionals involved and most importantly the local community and COP on what is, by anyone’s standard a magnificent achievement. The support and engagement of the community has been a central element of that success, because regeneration is about more than just new houses and play areas, important though these are."
COP has also recently published an ambitious open space strategy. It identifies a number of opportunities to improve services in the area. And it's been driven by the desire of this community to have more control over its future.
"We have recently started the process of reviewing the master plan for the area, and we will set out new objectives, which matches the growing ambition of the local community, the Council and our partners. Stirling Council has made a commitment to continue with the work to prepare for the next phase."
With the demolition of old and unpopular flats and a further housing development planned, with 23 new houses to be built by Forth Housing Association, Stirling Council is actively preparing to launch its own new house-building programme.
