Morgan Ashurst has been chosen by North Lanarkshire Council as one of three framework contractors to deliver its £300m schools modernisation programme.
The four-year package of building improvements, due to start in February, is one of the largest educational facilities upgrades in the UK.
The project has been named Schools and Centres 21 to reflect the role of North Lanarkshire's schools as community hubs.
Morgan Ashurst will be involved in the construction of new primary and secondary schools, early education and additional community facilities across North Lanarkshire. It will also help refurbish existing schools, nurseries and community buildings. The value of the work could be worth as much as £100m to Morgan Ashurst.
Harry Thorburn, Morgan Ashurst managing director for Scotland, said: "This is a significant and high impact modernisation programme that will create a new generation of high performance education and community facilities."
Morgan Ashurst's appointment to the Schools and Centres 21 Framework is the fourth major schools buildings programme for the company in Scotland. It follows the award of a £134m public private partnership (PPP) scheme to design and build six new secondary schools in East Dunbartonshire for East Dunbartonshire Council.
Morgan Ashurst is also responsible for all 19 of South Lanarkshire Council's secondary schools construction projects under its Secondary Schools Modernisation Programme. Morgan Ashurst is also one of three construction firms appointed by South Lanarkshire Council to carry out the construction of 33 new primary schools under its Primary Schools Modernisation Programme.
