Tom Bain, project director with Carillion, has been appointed as director of operations on the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Gordon Arthur, a former head of corporate affairs with Standard Life, has also been appointed as director of communications. The appointments come weeks after former drug- testing czar John Scott was appointed chief executive of Glasgow 2014.
Mr Scott said: "I am delighted to announce these appointments to the senior team who will be responsible, with me, for delivering a Games of the highest quality."
As project director with Carillion, Mr Bain has delivered a number of major projects across Scotland and the rest of the UK. He previously worked for Balfour Beatty, Amec, Bovis and John Laing.
Mr Arthur was responsible for communications campaigns supporting the demutualisation and subsequent flotation of Standard Life in July 2006, as well as running his own consultancy business.
Mr Bain said: "It will be my job as a key member of the organising committee to ensure the Scottish people and the competing nations have a 2014 Games experience that surpasses expectation."
Mr Arthur said: "I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with John and the team to deliver the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. I am passionate about sport and want the 2014 Games to be acclaimed as an unparalleled success for Glasgow, Scotland and the Commonwealth Games Federation."
