Almondvale And Elements To Become 'The Centre' Of Retail Excellence

Livingston's Almondvale Shopping Centre and The Elements - the new £130m extension to Almondvale - will be known by the new name 'The Centre' from 16 October 2008.

The name change coincides with the opening date of the new shopping extension which has been eagerly anticipated.

With the existing shopping centre undergoing a refurbishment, and the new extension promising a bright and modern shopping environment, The Centre - with almost 1 million sq ft of retail space - is sure to be the hot topic on shoppers' lips.

Neil Carron, Development Manager, said: "We believe this is the perfect time to change the name to one which reflects Livingston's exciting transformation - this stunning retail hub is in the heart of the town and offers so much under one roof. The Centre will form one spectacular retail destination boasting 155 shops, leisure space and a superb catering offer.

"We have been developing in Livingston for more than 30 years and in that time the town's retail offer has grown to become one of the best in Scotland - something we are really proud of."

The Centre will offer a dynamic and inviting environment where people can shop, eat, relax or meet – whatever the weather. Made up of various elements, it will comprise five distinct areas:
  • Elements Square - the dramatic new 375,000 sq ft extension will house top retailers in an indoor shopping area with an outdoor feel.
  • The Wintergarden - located upstairs within Elements Square, the Wintergarden will have comfortable seating and catering outlets in a leafy garden environment providing an ideal break from the busy shopping areas.
  • The Avenue - this road running between The Centre and Livingston Designer Outlet will be home to the town's five new restaurants.
  • Almondvale Walk - the most easterly section of The Centre runs from JJB and Aulds along to Asda Walmart featuring favourites including WH Smith, Bodycare and M&Co.
  • Almondvale Place - the mall that stretches from Semi-Chem along to Carphone Warehouse, with top names including Boots, Argos and Chisholm Hunter.
Retailers which have signed up to the new development so far include 90,000 sq ft anchor stores Marks & Spencer and Debenhams; retailers H&M, River Island, Swarovski, Topshop, Topman, Dorothy Perkins, Burton, Beaverbrooks, Passion for Perfume, Orange and 3; and restaurants Ask, Nando, Wagamama, and Chiquito.

This latest phase signals Land Securities' ongoing commitment to Livingston.
