Key Appointments For McKean Group

The McKean Group, which carries out both principal and specialist contracting works within the construction industry, has made three key appointments, including one newly-created role, as the business continues to progress.

Joining the Group as Senior Contracts Manager for Mayfield Construction, the group's Merseyside-based division is Alan Rogers, who previously worked for specialist contractor Lancsville Construction. Prior to that Alan, 38, was with C. Spencer Ltd, the multi-disciplinary civil engineering consultancy as a main design and build contractor where he gained extensive rail experience.

One of Mr Rogers' key roles will be to continue the company's drive to improve contract delivery in terms of quality and cost through the expansion and development of the company's management system.

Senior Quantity Surveyor, Dan Granton, 30, also joined Mayfield Construction recently from Carillion. He is currently responsible for the construction of the £6m scheme to build a four storey office block for Neptune Developments at Liverpool Science Park in Liverpool city centre.

Taking on the newly-created role of Group Procurement and Assets Manager is 36-year-old Sheila Fairley, who joins McKean Group from Pennants, while 38 year old quantity surveyor, Derek Petrie, joins Glasgow-based McKean & Company, the group's Scottish construction arm, from Alfred McAlpine.

David Noar, Group Managing Director, said: "The Group's three operating companies - McKean, Mayfield and Hudson - have all been performing and progressing well. We are well aware of the difficult trading conditions brought on from increased competition as the housing and residential sectors now hunt for work in the public arena.

"However, we remain bullish for the balance of this year and into next. These appointments have been made to continue our momentum, underpin our progress and help the Group fulfil its ambitions of becoming a company where our people are at the forefront of our success."

Further, McKean & Company's Construction Director, 40 year old Garry Ward, has been appointed to the board of the CECA Scotland (Civil Engineering Contractors Association), which represents the interests of more than 100 civil engineering contractor businesses across the country.

Mr Noar praised Mr Ward's appointment to the board of CECA Scotland and said: "CECA Scotland has secured the expertise of a highly-skilled industry operator to its board as Garry can provide knowledge and experience from our wide range of business activities. We're extremely proud to have McKean representation on the board of CECA Scotland."
