Miller Construction has appointed Mark Baxter as Director of its Public Private Partnership Unit.
Mark joined the leading construction firm over six years ago to take up the position of Finance Manager for PPP before being made an Associate Director of the PPP Unit in 2007.
Mark's promotion is a natural progression, having 12 years' experience of traditional PPP/PFI developments as well as in LIFT, BSF and Secondary Market transactions.
During his career, Mark, a qualified Chartered Accountant, has been involved in over £1.5bn of PPP/PFI projects, including new build education projects for Fife (£64m), Edinburgh (£110m) and Inverclyde (£80m) councils; the £235m Leicester BSF project and a £60m Primary Care Trust construction programme for Leeds LIFT.
In his new role, Mark will be working on generating business and bidding for new projects throughout the UK, as well as overseeing existing investments.
Mark said: "I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to progress not only my own career with Miller Construction but also to further develop our UK offering in the PPP market. Our collaborative approach to PPP projects is extremely effective and we have a wealth of experience which we are confident will continue to help us win even more projects within a range of existing and emerging markets."
Alan Scott, Finance Director for Miller Construction, said: "During his time with Miller Construction, Mark has proved to be a real asset in the development of our PPP offering and I am confident that Mark and the team will drive forward this important section of our business.
"The construction industry is currently facing a challenging but exciting time. It is increasingly important that we work together in a close partnership basis with local authorities, health trusts and education providers. Mark's appointment will enable us to focus on establishing strong partnerships and further develop our reputation for the successful delivery of PPP / PFI projects."
