James Lee from Castlemilk and Danny Molloy from Balornock are celebrating the end of their four year apprenticeship and a future with new prospects thanks to Morris & Spottiswood.
Company bosses have been so impressed with the pair's skills and work ethic that not only have they awarded them both full time jobs with the firm, they have also given them bonuses, bought each of them their own tool kit, and agreed to sponsor Danny through completion of his HNC at night school.
Robert McLarrie, Operations Director for Morris & Spottiswood's Housing Division, said: "Our apprenticeship scheme is very supportive. We ensure apprentices gain real experience in different areas even if that means going outside the business. For example, we identified an opportunity for them to gain specialist experience and spend time on a project with one of our subcontractor's who is a specialist slater.
"The result of our approach to training means that our apprentices are capable of carrying out trade elements well in advance of usual training expectations, Danny and James are prime examples; their newly gained qualifications are testament to their ability, attitude and the opportunities that we make available for our apprentices."
James, 21, and Danny, 21, have spent the last four years working at various sites, including Drumchapel and Knightswood, as part of the firm's housing refurbishment contract with Glasgow Housing Association.
Danny said: "Completing my apprenticeship has been my biggest achievement so far. Morris & Spottiswood has provided a really supportive learning environment during the last four years and I'm really pleased to be able to continue my career here and see the next generation of apprentices come on board."
Morris & Spottiswood, which has offices in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Warrington, employs 56 apprentices and in common with the industry, they are not under any obligation to offer employment once apprenticeships come to an end.
