Rockwool's sustainable and non-combustible insulation has been specified for the £330m Maxim office park and Centralpoint industrial development, the largest speculative scheme of its kind in the UK, which is located between Edinburgh and Glasgow.
Supplied by SIG, 15,000m2 of Rockwool's 140mm Flexi insulation, 15,000m2 of its 50mm RW5 insulation and 3,000m2 of its Duorock have been used in five of the 10 buildings on the site, which include 68,000m2 of office space and 39,266m2 of industrial space.
Maxim office park has been designed for TAL CPT Land Development LLP by architects Keppie Design and is being constructed by Bowmer and Kirkland.
Specialist contractor, Lakesmere Ltd, specified and installed Rockwool's sustainable, environmentally sound mineral wool insulation.
Douglas Sheppard, procurement manager at Lakesmere, explained: "We used Rockwool's Flexi, RW5 and Duorock products for this development, because, in addition to providing excellent thermal performance, Rockwool products offer very high levels of acoustic control, they are non-combustible and are completely sustainable and environmentally sound.
"Rockwool Flexi and Rockwool RW5 were used in the external walls of five buildings on the site, which were constructed using a primary steelwork frame.
"The steel studwork was insulated with Rockwool Flexi, which was covered with Versapanel board, followed by layer of Rockwool RW5. The outer skin was finished with a breather layer and an aluminium rainscreen system.
"Rockwool's Duorock flat roofing boards were used to insulate elements of the roofs of the buildings."
