Gladedale (North East Scotland) Ltd has been selected as the preferred developer to deliver three contracts worth £14m to create 134 new quality affordable homes in Dundee.
Leading housebuilder Gladedale (North East Scotland) Ltd is working in partnership under a framework agreement with three Dundee Housing Associations: Abertay Housing Association, Servite Housing Association and Angus Housing Association.
Planning is being submitted this week and if approved, the contracts will help to contribute towards meeting the high demand for affordable housing in Dundee.
As well as providing family housing and housing for older people and wheelchair users, work will also include improvements to public open spaces.
If planning is granted and funding approved, Abertay Housing Association hopes to create 48 homes in Charleston, Angus Housing Association hopes to build 41 new homes in Whitfield, and Servite Housing Association hopes to bring 45 new homes to Kirkton.
Should the plans be given the green light, work is expected to begin in December this year and it is hoped that the homes will be completed in December 2009.
The homes will be a welcome addition to housing in Dundee. They will contribute to meeting Dundee City Council's strategic plans for regeneration and help meet existing needs within the social rented sector.
Jason Wallace, Managing Director for Gladedale (North East Scotland) Ltd said: "Gladedale is pleased to be playing its part in bringing much-needed affordable housing to Dundee.
"We have a strong history of working with Housing Associations and Local Authorities across Scotland. In North East Scotland, we have delivered 164 houses for rent and 47 houses for low cost home ownership in projects totalling £20m in the last three years.
"Working with progressive local authorities is a key part of our growth strategy to strengthen our position as one of the Scotland's leading housebuilders and we look forward to playing our part in meeting housing need at all levels across Scotland."
