REHAU's supply of a PROFILA data cable management system to M&E contractors Skanska for Slough Borough Council's PFI schools project has led to a similar new contract for eight PPP schools in Midlothian, Scotland.
The PROFILA data system was chosen by Skanska in Slough because it fitted the specification for Cat 6 cabling and could be extruded with grey covers to make the installation suitable for children with impaired vision.
The performance of the product and the ease of installation on site meant it was the first choice for the Midlothian PPP contract in which Skanska Quayle Munro and the PFI Infrastructure Company are partnering with Midlothian Council.
More than 2000m of PROFILA data is being supplied for the eight new primary schools via REHAU distributors Ross Electrical and Edmundsons.
The system is being used for power and data cabling throughout many of the ICT suites and classroom areas where whiteboards have been installed. Its compact size (just 180mm x 65mm overall) means it can be fitted at dado height where required often between desks and windowsills.
PROFILA data incorporates a number of features such as one piece variable angle corners which wrap around corners that are not true 90º, a pre-punched base and dowel pins to accommodate easy and accurate alignment and one-piece clip-on accessories.
The quality and long term durability of the cable management system is critical in a PPP project and REHAU has already proved the performance of its system in schools and educational establishments across the UK.
