He has laid the foundations for the future of British Waterways Scotland and no doubt will continue to be a keen observer of the continued transformation of Scotland's canals.

He said: "It has been a great opportunity for me to be involved in British Waterways Scotland for so long. The canals of Scotland are magnificent and are truly a national asset. They are there to be enjoyed by everyone. British Waterways Scotland is dedicated to developing and regenerating areas around the canals and this will continue well in to the future. I look forward to seeing the many wonderful ideas flourish."

Stewart Stevenson, Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Climate Change said: "The renaissance of Scotland's canals over the past decade was driven in no small part by Campbell Christie.
