Robertson Tayside has been recognised for its work on the Craigowl Primary School project with a prestigious award.
The Chartered Institute of Builders (CIOB) and Dundee City Council Contractors' Excellence Award was presented to the Dundee-based construction company at the City Chambers by Lord Provost John Letford.
Running for its fourth consecutive year, the award scheme – which is the only one of its kind within the Chartered Institute of Building – is designed to promote and recognise excellent standards of practice on-site including set up, management, safety and facilities.
Craigowl Primary School is one of eight schools being constructed in Dundee in as part of the council’s £90m rebuilding programme which will deliver six primary and two new secondary schools throughout the local authority.
Robertson Tayside will deliver a total of six new primary schools under a design and build contract as part of the Discovery Education Consortium which includes Robertson Capital Projects and Sir Robert McAlpine.
The Dundee Schools scheme underpins Robertson’s position in the Scottish schools PPP marketplace, where it has delivered phases one and two of the £72m Aberdeenshire Schools PPP project and is currently in the construction phase of the £50m Angus Schools PPP project.

"To receive an award for our first project in the area from Dundee City Council and the CIOB for the Craigowl Primary School site is a great achievement.
"The delivery of modern purpose-built educational facilities such as Craigowl is key to strengthening our relationship with the council and to achieve a certificate of excellence is a valuable reflection of efforts to maintain high-standards of building site welfare, health and safety and promote this commendable practice across all Robertson construction sites."
Dundee City Council and CIOB carry out a joint assessment of a number of sites based on key performance indicators and selects those which best reflect the aims and objectives of the award scheme.
Bill Crabb, former chairman of CIOB Dundee and awards organiser, added: "The CIOB award is a great opportunity for the council – which is the largest employer in the area - to raise the stakes for contractors working on their projects.
"We were extremely impressed with the set up, high standards of accommodation and facilities on the Craigowl site and steps taken to ensure those on-site were aware of safety and procedures."
