The Royal Golf Hotel in Dornoch, one of the most famous golf hotels in the world, which is located beside the 1st tee on one of the world’s top-rated golf courses, is for sale through Global property consultancy, Knight Frank.
Knight Frank partners David Reid and John Coleman are handling the sale of the property which has extensive plans approved to refurbish the hotel to provide 33 en-suite rooms with additional planning permission for 11 luxurious apartments/cottages within the hotels grounds.
Knight Frank is selling The Royal Golf Hotel on behalf of Havana West Limited who are rationalising their UK interests. As a result of a change in long-term strategy the property no longer fits with their other interests.
David Reid of Knight Frank commented: "We are absolutely delighted to be handling the sale of such an internationally famous property. This presents a one-off opportunity for either a hotel operator or an investment purchaser to acquire a uniquely positioned hotel with immensely important history, overlooking the 1st tee of the famous Royal Dornoch Golf Course, with the additional benefit of approval for the construction of apartments/cottages within the gardens. There is little doubt that purchasers from across the world will be interested in the opportunity to refurbish and run a top quality hotel and to develop the ancillary residential units for sale as fractional or whole unit residential properties for second or holiday home ownership."
Dornoch is the world’s third oldest golf course where golf was first played in 1616. Adjoining the famous Tom Morris course is the 18 hole Struie Links designed by Donald Steel which also offers challenging and enjoyable golf for players of all levels. Within a short distance of Dornoch there are no less than 11 other historic courses, all of which, together with Royal Dornoch, are available for the hotel’s guests to play. The Carnegie Links at Skibo Castle is also just 3 miles away.
The asking price of £5 million includes The Royal Golf Hotel and planning permission for 11 luxurious apartments/cottages.
