Turner & Townsend Associate Director, Evelyn McDowall, has been appointed by Heriot-Watt University to become an external examiner for their MSc/Diploma in Facilities Management.
The course, which can be studied on a full or part time basis, as well as through distance learning, is designed to develop competencies and skills to enable its graduates to manage facilities effectively for a changing business world. The course is focussed on industrial relevance ensuring that graduates are quickly able to make a positive and effective contribution to the success of their working world.
Commenting on her four-year appointment Evelyn said: "I was delighted to be approached by the University for this position. Having started my career in FM by studying an MSc in the subject, I hope that I can offer the students the benefit of my experience in the industry.
"It also fulfils my ambition to give something back to the profession which I decided I wanted to do when I became a Fellow of the British Institute of Facilities Management last year."
The course leader Dr Edward Finch said: "We're thrilled Evelyn has agreed to become our external examiner for this course, her breadth of knowledge and 15 years of practical experience within the facilities management profession will be an asset to the University. We look forward to her valuable contribution."
The role will commence with the exam diet in June this year, and Evelyn will be required amongst other things, to review course content, relate the syllabus to industry, review quality standards and of course, engage with students.
