Plumbing Contest In The Pipeline For Dundee

Staff at Dundee College are flushed with success with the announcement that the college has been chosen as the venue for the country's top plumbing organisation's annual apprentice competition.

The Kingsway Campus has been chosen by SNIPEF (Scotland and Northern Ireland Plumbing Employers Federation) because of the cutting-edge facilities on offer at the college's plumbing and central heating centre of excellence.

The organisers needed a venue which could supply 20 separate work benches and an equal number of bays in which the competitors can show off their practical skills - both pipe-work and lead work.

The facilities at Dundee College are ideal for those willing to take the plunge and pit their skills against their peers. The competitors, from all over the country, will be streaming into the college for the contest which runs over two days at the beginning of June.

Alan Rae, events co-ordinator at Dundee College said: "We are delighted to host the SNIPEF 2008 Apprentice Competition. Being chosen as the venue for one of the biggest apprentice competitions in the country offers validation of our plumbing unit as a centre of excellence."

As well as acting as hosts, Dundee College will, of course, have their very own representative taking part in the nationwide contest. There will be no such thing as home advantage however as the competition is designed to see which apprentices are hot stuff and go steaming to the finish and which end up as drips having burst under the pressure.
