SELECT, the electrical contracting industry's trade association, has launched Scottish Building Services Certification in association with the NICEIC Group Ltd.
This step, announced on 31 March, allows electrical contracting and building services firms to register as Approved Bodies, appoint Approved Certifiers and manage the Certification process through a new online portal, www.sbsc.uk.net
Certification removes the need for local authority verifiers to personally inspect every piece of work carried out. By securing Approved status, firms can also give confidence to clients that the work being done is of a standard they can trust.
Newell McGuiness, Managing Director of SELECT, said: "This facility makes it quicker and more convenient for firms on a day-to-day basis. The new portal at www.sbsc.uk.net gives businesses an important central information platform."
Angus Moir, Chief Operating Officer, NICEIC Group, added: "We are delighted to partner SELECT in this initiative for Scotland. SBSC is a convenient service for the industry and enables a quicker and easier Certification process for contractors."
Bill Dodds, Acting Head of Building Standards said: "I would like to congratulate everyone involved with Scottish Building Services Certification on a successful launch. Well done on seizing the initiative to develop the web portal."
The announcement was made at Archerfield Links golf club, East Lothian, with the launch attended by senior industry figures and local dignitaries including East Lothian Provost Sheena Richardson.
