Story Homes has confirmed the submission of a full planning application to Dumfries & Galloway Council for a proposed new phase of development at its established Summerpark site in Dumfries.
The plans outline the delivery of 108 new homes on land at Marchfield (H14), further expanding the award-winning community that has grown at Summerpark over the past 17 years. The proposed properties will offer a mix of 3 to 5-bedroom designs, featuring modern, open-plan internal layouts and the distinctive exterior detailing for which Story Homes is known.
Adam McNally, Senior Land & Planning Manager for Story Homes, commented: "We're proud of the community that has grown at Summerpark over the past 17 years, and we're excited to have submitted these plans for consideration. If approved, this next phase - bringing 108 new homes - would allow us to continue supporting housing delivery in Dumfries. Summerpark has a strong sense of community and a reputation for quality that we're committed to upholding. We look forward to engaging with Dumfries & Galloway Council and the local community as the plans are considered."
The proposed development includes a range of community benefits, such as a secure children's play area, tree-lined streets, and pedestrian links to the Marchfield Rounall and the wider public right of way network. Additionally, new green areas of public open space will be created on-site, providing accessible amenities for both new and existing residents.
Story Homes has reiterated its commitment to investing in the Dumfries & Galloway region. If the plans are approved, the new phase is expected to generate further benefits for the local economy during the construction phase through direct and indirect employment opportunities within the sub-contractor and supply chains. It is also anticipated to increase demand for local businesses and services once the new homes are occupied.
Summerpark, Story Homes' first Scottish development, opened in 2008 and has since become the company's largest development in Dumfries & Galloway, currently home to over 500 residents. The development has received multiple awards in recognition of its design and quality.
A decision on the planning application from Dumfries & Galloway Council is anticipated by the end of the year.
