Ayrshire Housing, a prominent social housing provider in the region, is set to inject over £11 million into upgrading its existing housing stock across both urban and rural communities.

The significant investment plans were detailed at the launch of the organisation's new Business Plan 2030, which outlines its key objectives and delivery targets for the next five years.

Speaking at the launch, Ayrshire Housing's chief executive, Lesley-Anne Junner, stated: "We are very much an anchor within the communities we serve, and will continue to expand and improve the services we offer. Over the next five years we will continue to deliver up-to date, affordable homes which are warm, safe and well maintained. Our people delivering excellence for our customers and communities."

Established in 2003 through the merger of Carrick Housing Association and South Ayrshire Homes, Ayrshire Housing has grown substantially to become a leading provider of high-quality, affordable rented accommodation in the area, currently managing 1700 homes in diverse settings.

The planned improvement works will be prioritised based on comprehensive condition surveys, targeting homes with the most pressing needs. The extensive programme includes the installation of 38 new roofs, 466 new bathrooms, 563 new kitchens, 452 new windows and doors, and 815 heating systems.

"The housing crisis has been well documented, and we are proud of our past record in delivering new, efficient homes in Ayrshire. Our new business plan continues this passion for new build delivery with proposals for 91 new homes outlined," added Lesley-Anne Junner. These new properties are earmarked for development across Ayr, Maybole, Coylton, and Kirkmichael. Furthermore, the association intends to bring an additional 50 existing properties into the social rented sector.

Ayrshire Housing is also placing a strong emphasis on enhancing the customer experience. "To improve the customer experience we will also be putting in place a dedicated Community Engagement team. They will work to provide connected services working with our partners to help customers know how, and where, to receive support when they need it," explained Lesley-Anne Junner. "As part of this the team will be out and about in rural communities to ensure all our customers have a face to face service option."

The Business Plan 2030 also outlines how Ayrshire Housing will continue to expand its work with local communities to foster vibrant neighbourhood environments, demonstrating a holistic approach to housing provision.
