Wheatley Homes Glasgow has announced consultation events on its proposed £100 million regeneration plans for Wynford.
The extensive redevelopment project aims to construct hundreds of new, energy-efficient family homes, with 85% designated for social rent and 15% for mid-market rent. The plans also include the development of a new Community Hub.
A significant step in the regeneration process was marked by the demolition of three unpopular tower blocks at 151, 171, and 191 Wyndford Road on Sunday, 23 March.
Now, Wheatley Homes Glasgow is inviting tenants and homeowners to view detailed plans, models, and artist impressions at two consultation events scheduled for April and May at Maryhill Burgh Halls. Staff from Wheatley, along with architects and designers, will be present to answer questions and gather feedback from the community.
The input received from these events will be crucial in shaping the full planning application that will be submitted to Glasgow City Council at the end of the summer.
Frank McCafferty, Wheatley's Group Director of Repairs and Assets, emphasised the importance of community involvement, stating, "These are really exciting times for Wyndford. Residents in Wyndford have always been at the very heart of the regeneration. These events will be a great opportunity for people to look at the plans in more detail and give us their views. The feedback we receive will be crucial in shaping the planning application we submit later this year."
The consultation events will take place at Maryhill Burgh Halls on Tuesday 01 April, from 2 pm to 7 pm, and on Wednesday 21 May, from 2 pm to 7 pm. Consultation boards will also be available to view on a dedicated website on the days of the consultations.
These consultation sessions are part of a 'Proposal of Application' (PAN) notice submitted by Wheatley to Glasgow City Council, preceding a formal planning application expected to be submitted by the end of the summer.
