Residents and businesses in Yorkhill and Kelvingrove are being invited to share their views on proposed improvements to public spaces in the area.
Visualisations of the latest phases of the Connecting Yorkhill and Kelvingrove project, aimed at enhancing walking, wheeling, and cycling infrastructure, have been released.
Developed designs are now available for Kelvinhaugh Street, Derby Street, Parkgrove Terrace, and Kelvingrove Street, while early-stage designs have been released for Corunna Street, St Vincent Crescent, and Minerva Street.
The detailed proposals, accessible via an online Story Map, include improved footways, step-free pedestrian crossings, and a bi-directional, segregated cycle way on Derby Street and a section of Kelvinhaugh Street. Plans also feature enhanced lighting, signage, green spaces, new seating areas, on-street secure cycle parking, and additional disabled parking bays.
Community feedback is sought through an online survey, available until Sunday, 27 April 2025. Paper copies of the survey can also be obtained from Exchange House, The Pyramid at Anderston, and The National Library of Scotland. A community drop-in event will be held at The Pyramid at Anderston on Tuesday, 25 March 2025, from 3:30 pm to 7:00 pm.
Cllr Angus Millar, Convener for Transport and Climate, said: "We want to provide greater opportunities to move about Glasgow safely, and by establishing a City Network of active travel routes we can connect communities across the city. Connecting Yorkhill and Kelvingrove will improve the environment for walking, wheeling and cycling, and link to existing active travel routes such as those in Kelvingrove Park and the Govan-Partick Bridge."
Carole Patrick, Portfolio Director at Sustrans, a funder of the project, said: "The new cycleways, seating areas, green spaces and street lighting set to be delivered in Yorkhill and Kelvingrove will be monumental for the people of Glasgow, helping make journeys to work, school and places of business easier for everyone."
The Connecting Yorkhill and Kelvingrove project is being implemented in four phases, with Phase 1 (Yorkhill North) already consulted upon and construction scheduled to begin in May 2025. Phases 2 (Yorkhill South) and 3 (Kelvingrove) are now under consultation for developed designs, while Phase 4 (Corunna Street/Minerva Street) is at the early-stage concept design phase.
