Procast Group, a Hamilton-based principal contractor, has been awarded a £1 million contract to begin the transformation of the derelict Greenfield House in Alloa.
The company will undertake the initial phases of the project for Clackmannanshire Council, aiming to bring the iconic but disused manor house back into use.
Work on the 13-month project is scheduled to commence next month. Procast will deliver Phases 1 and 2, focusing on making the historic building, located within Greenfield Park, wind and watertight. This will primarily involve remedial work to the roof, glazing, and gutters.
Phase 2 of the project will address issues of damp and dry rot, along with plaster repairs and some decoration.
Greenfield House, which has been vacant for eight years, is awaiting a final decision from the council regarding its future use.
Procast Group, which employs over 130 staff, specialises in retrofitting work and multi-trade contracting projects across Scotland and the North of England.
Derek Innes, Owner and Managing Director of Procast Group, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating: "We are excited to commence work on this fantastic heritage building – which has stood in the centre of Alloa for more than 130 years."
He added: "Our hope is to be part of the journey to restoring this stunning manor house to past glories and, by commencing Phase 1, we believe we are taking a huge stride forward to achieving that. Hopefully, come the end of this initial project, we are able to continue with the works to bring this cultural landmark back up to scratch and maintain its prominence in the town for another century."
