Key figures in the clean power sector are set to gather in Aberdeen on Thursday, 13 March, to discuss how Scotland's renewable energy supply chain can spearhead the global shift towards green energy. The Renewable Energy Supply Chain Conference, organised by Scottish Renewables, will showcase the supply chain's crucial role in developing and operating major renewable energy projects.

The conference will feature a headline session with Nathalie Haller, Director of Banking and Investments at the National Wealth Fund, and Claire Mack, Chief Executive of Scottish Renewables, discussing the potential for job creation, energy independence, and community benefits through clean energy deployment and supply chain expansion.

Other expert speakers include Alwyn Poulter of Hitachi Energy, Kate Rudman of Tarmac, Sinclair Browne from the Port of Inverness, and Nicola Watson of Ocean Winds. The event will also offer meet-the-buyer appointments, providing suppliers with direct access to developer procurement teams.

Scottish Renewables, which recently launched The Clean Energy Cluster to support Scotland's offshore wind supply chain, aims to foster innovation and enhance the global competitiveness of Scottish renewable energy businesses. The cluster already boasts over 400 members.

The conference will bring together developers, tier 1 suppliers, ports, hauliers, vessel brokers, and operations and maintenance providers to gain insights into the future of renewable energy in Scotland.

Emma Harrick, Director of Energy Transition and Supply Chain at Scottish Renewables, said: "Scotland, long hailed as the ‘Energy Capital of Europe,’ stands on the brink of an exciting new era. With a legacy rooted in oil and gas, our nation is now leading the charge in renewable energy unlocking a monumental economic opportunity that will power not just Scotland but the entire UK for generations to come."

She emphasised the need for a "vibrant network of skilled, innovative suppliers" to achieve ambitious renewable energy targets, highlighting the diverse opportunities available in the sector.

"Over the past decade, Scotland has seen hundreds of supply chain businesses bring their expertise to the renewable energy industry, investing in growth, skills and talent to ensure we meet the demands of tomorrow," Harrick added.

"As we look ahead, we are excited to welcome the entrepreneurial trailblazers of this industry to our Renewable Energy Supply Chain Conference in Aberdeen where we’ll explore how supply chain businesses can harness Scotland’s greatest economic opportunity."
