Persimmon East Scotland has submitted a Planning Permission in Principle (PPiP) application for a significant development at Gavieside Farm, west of Livingston, proposing up to 2,800 new homes and extensive community facilities.
The project, located on a site allocated for development in the West Lothian Local Development Plan, aims to address the region's housing needs with a focus on affordability and energy efficiency. A key element of the plan is the allocation of 700 homes to help alleviate West Lothian's housing emergency and reduce the council's housing waiting list.
This development represents one of Persimmon East Scotland's largest projects to date, demonstrating their commitment to the West Lothian area. The proposal includes substantial investment in the local community, with plans for:
• A new primary school.
• Land for a modern healthcare facility.
• A village centre with retail and community spaces.
• Employment land to create local jobs.
• Extensive landscaped open spaces and recreational facilities.
The project is designed to be delivered in phases, with construction planned to begin in time for the first homes to be delivered from 2029.
Neil Parry, Managing Director for Persimmon Homes East Scotland, said: "We're thrilled to bring forward plans for this landmark development at Gavieside Farm. Our vision is to create a thriving, inclusive community that provides much-needed homes while contributing significantly to the local economy. The inclusion of a primary school, a healthcare facility, and open spaces ensures this development isn't just about homes – it's about building a sustainable community for the future."
If the PPiP application is approved, detailed plans for each phase of the development will be submitted for approval.
