QTS Group has been awarded the Wellbeing in Rail award at the 2025 Rail Business Awards, recognising the company's strong commitment to the health and safety of its staff.

The award highlights QTS's comprehensive approach to employee wellbeing, which includes the operation of a safety bus that tours sites and offices across the UK. Over the past two years, the safety bus has provided health surveillances to approximately 500 individuals and administered 250 flu vaccines.

In April 2023, QTS Group became one of the first railway contractors in the UK to offer cancer screening as part of its annual health surveillance program. Since then, 555 staff members have been screened for prostate cancer, 71 for ovarian cancer, and 689 for bowel cancer.

QTS Group also places a strong emphasis on mental health support. The company collaborates with Andy's Man Club and the Kris Boyd Charity to deliver mental health messaging at safety stand-downs and runs an internal campaign called 'Quit The Stigma', which provides resources for those experiencing mental health challenges. QTS Group has over 100 mental health first aiders deployed across the UK.

Andy Steel, Managing Director, said: "It's an honour to win such a prestigious award for our commitment to the health and wellbeing of our staff. At QTS, we believe we have a duty to ensure all of our staff are fit and healthy, both physically and mentally, and we make a great effort to not only support staff but give them the tools to keep themselves healthy."

He added: "With regular health surveillance check-ups, our team members get eyesight, hearing, blood pressure and many more tests which is all organised and managed by our dedicated Occupational Health team. I am very pleased to see them recognised at the Rail Business Awards."
