Haggs And Banknock Roadworks To Boost Safety And Housing

Construction News Image
Roadworks have commenced at M80 Junction 7 in Haggs and Banknock, aimed at improving road safety and enabling new housing development.

The upgrades, led by developers I&H Brown and the Mac Mic Group, are funded by the Scottish Government's Housing Infrastructure grant.

The project will convert the existing mini-roundabout in Haggs into a full roundabout and upgrade the priority junction in Banknock with traffic signals.

"By improving the junctions at Haggs and Banknock, it not only enhances road safety and reduces congestion but also unlocks much needed housing opportunities, including affordable homes in the area," said Councillor Paul Garner, Deputy Leader of Falkirk Council. "These developments will support local families, drive economic growth, and create a more connected and sustainable future for our area."

The junction improvements will facilitate planned housing developments, including affordable housing, in Banknock, Haggs, and Dennyloanhead.

"I am delighted that improvement works are underway on the M80 Junction 7 in Haggs and Banknock," said Housing Minister Paul McLennan. "The £2.3m in support from the Scottish Government’s Housing Infrastructure Fund will help to unlock access to sites for both private and affordable housing. Everyone deserves a warm and safe place to call home and once these road improvements are complete, there will be an opportunity to deliver much needed affordable housing to local communities in the Falkirk Council area.”

Kilmac is carrying out the roadworks, which are expected to be completed by the end of summer 2025.
