A new nature trail is being developed at Lochore Meadows Country Park, Fife, improving access and safety for visitors. Work on the path, which will connect the popular "Round the Loch" circular route, begins next week (24 February).

The new path will create a dedicated off-road route, eliminating the need for walkers and cyclists to share a section of the Pit Road with vehicles, thus addressing existing safety concerns.

"We are thrilled to be bringing this long-awaited connection to life," said Cllr Linda Erskine, Spokesperson for Communities. "This path will not only enhance accessibility but also provide an incredible opportunity for people to engage with nature in a sustainable and responsible way. Most importantly, it will improve safety by eliminating the need for walkers and cyclists to share the Pit Road with vehicles, making Lochore Meadows even more welcoming for all."


The project, funded by the Shared Prosperity Fund and supported by Fife Council and Fife Coast & Countryside Trust, will allow visitors to explore deeper into the nature reserve and experience its natural beauty. Construction is expected to be completed by April.

In addition to the new path, existing paths will undergo repairs and maintenance. The small car park on Pit Road will also be upgraded with additional spaces and improvements to the footpath and surface. These enhancements aim to make the park more accessible and enjoyable for all visitors.
