The City of Edinburgh Council is calling on local residents to share their opinions on the regeneration of Seafield, ensuring that the development meets the needs and aspirations of the community.
As a crucial part of the city's Edinburgh City Plan 2030, the Seafield site is set for significant transformation, with plans that include a new promenade, a GP surgery, and spaces for new shops and businesses. The coastal area is also earmarked for up to 2,700 new homes, with 35% designated as affordable housing to help address the city's ongoing housing crisis.
The plans aim to support Edinburgh’s sustainability goals, with a proposed heat network designed to reduce energy costs for future residents and contribute to the city’s net-zero targets.
The ongoing consultation, which will close on April 30, 2025, builds on two earlier phases of community engagement. Residents are invited to attend a drop-in session to discuss the proposals or participate in an online survey through the Consultation Hub.
Planning Convener James Dalgleish said: "Our draft plan to transform Seafield into a new environmentally friendly neighbourhood will take us one step further to tackling our housing emergency and reaching net zero by 2030.
"This is a chance for residents to shape the future of the area – whether it's about improving transport links, preserving green spaces or introducing new community facilities and we're eager to hear everyone's ideas for a Seafield that serves the whole community.
"I'd encourage everyone to share their views with us by filling in our online survey or coming along to one of our consultation drop-in events."
