SSEN Transmission, the Perth-based electricity transmission company, has pledged its support to the Young Person's Guarantee, a Scottish Government initiative aimed at providing opportunities for all 16-24 year olds.

The company has reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing young talent in the Scottish energy sector by offering a range of paid apprenticeships and graduate schemes, strengthening partnerships with educational institutions, and creating work-based learning opportunities.

"We are proud to pledge our support to the Young Person’s Guarantee, which reaffirms our commitment to providing young people with the skills, training, and opportunities they need to succeed in a career in green energy," said Allie Walker, Director of HR for SSEN Transmission.

This commitment comes as SSEN Transmission embarks on a significant period of growth, investing £20 billion to upgrade the electricity transmission network across the north of Scotland.

"We’re investing £20 billion to upgrade the transmission network across the north of Scotland by 2030, and to deliver this we need to have the right people and skills within our teams, which is why we recognise the importance of investing in the next generation to help us reach this ambitious task," Walker added.

Margo Milne, Director of DYW North East, welcomed SSEN Transmission's support for the Young Person's Guarantee. "This is a very positive announcement, which will allow us to build on our existing joint activities," she said.
