The regeneration of St Ninians in Stirling has taken a significant step forward with the approval of plans to begin the process of appointing a contractor for a new housing development.
Stirling Council has given the green light to proceed with the procurement process for a builder to develop a site at Graystale Road, which will see the construction of 44 new council houses.
The site has remained vacant since 2012 following the demolition of previous tenement flats. Planning permission for the new housing development was granted in August 2024, and it is anticipated that construction will commence in 2026.
"We're keenly aware of the demand for affordable housing within Stirling, and indeed across Scotland," said Councillor Gerry McGarvey, Community Wellbeing and Housing Convener. "This decision brings the prospect of high quality social housing a step closer to reality within the St Ninians area as a long vacant plot will be brought into use."
The development will comprise a mix of one, two, three, and four-bedroom homes, as well as wheelchair-accessible bungalows.
