Planning Application Submitted for Gym at Aberdeen Energy Park

Innovation Centre proposed for change of use to meet growing community needs

AM Sci Tech has submitted a planning application to Aberdeen City Council seeking to change the use of the Innovation Centre within Aberdeen Energy Park in Bridge of Don from business use to leisure use.

The proposal aims to convert the 14,000 sq ft building into a modern gym or fitness studio, catering to the growing demand for health and well-being facilities in the area.

"We are very excited to submit this Change of Use Planning Application, which we believe reflects the evolving needs of the parks and the local community," said Gordon Pirie, Asset Manager at Aberdeen Energy & Innovation Parks. "With the area undergoing significant residential growth, there is an increasing demand for high-quality leisure facilities and we believe a gym operator would thrive in this prime location. This development will not only benefit residents but also add value to the wider business park."

The Innovation Centre, located at the heart of the business park, offers a bright and spacious environment with a generous floorplan, high ceilings, and ample parking. Its convenient location, excellent transport links, and proximity to a growing residential population make it an ideal location for a fitness facility.

With hundreds of new homes currently under construction and many more in the planning stages, the demand for local amenities is increasing significantly. The proposed change of use aims to address this need and enhance the appeal of the business park for both residents and employees.

Subject to planning approval, AM Sci Tech is seeking expressions of interest from gym operators and leisure providers. Knight Frank and Ryden are joint agents for Aberdeen Energy & Innovation Parks.
